The New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs will be competing for more than just the right to lift the trophy in the NBA Cup Championship on Tuesday night.

Star players like Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama and Knicks guard Jalen Brunson already earn tens of millions of dollars via massive contracts, but the prize money for the NBA Cup final is especially significant to players further down the roster.

The NBA Cup prize pool grows each year in relation to NBA revenue, per Front Office Sports . The 2025 payouts are the highest in the three-year history of the innovative in-season tournament started by commissioner Adam Silver in 2023.

2025 NBA Cup Prize Money Per Player

Here is a breakdown of how much each player on the Knicks and Spurs can win on Tuesday.

  • Winning team: $530,933 per player
  • Losing team: $212,373 per player

Players on all eight teams that advanced from the group stage also earned prize money.

NBA Cup vs. NBA Finals Bonus

For comparison, each player on the Thunder team that won the 2025 NBA Finals earned approximately $828,000 in bonuses from the NBA's $34.6 million prize pool, according to Sportico.

Players on the winning NBA Cup team will only have to play seven total games (four group stage, three knockout) to earn the $530,933 reward.

Considering six of those games count as part of the existing 82-game regular season schedule, winning the NBA Cup final represents one of the simplest paths to a big pay day in professional sports.

How Knicks, Spurs Players Plan to Spend $530K NBA Cup Prize

So, what will the players do with all that extra cash? Knicks star Karl-Anthony Townsplans to donate his winnings to charities in the Dominican Republic. Brunson emphasized he is playing for "guys and coaches who don’t make as much as some guys on this team."

"I haven't thought about what I'm going to do with it," Wembanyama said. "Just stacking money hasn't been any goal of mine in my life."

“I’ll buy a watch,” said Knicks guart Josh Hart, who has a four-year, $90 million contract. “I got robbed in September with no gun. I lost three watches so I have to start replacing those. We’re in Vegas. If I put it on a hand of blackjack, I might be able to double it and get more watches.”

The NBA Cup final tips off from T-Mobile Center at 8:30 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
