The 2025 NBA Draft lottery doesn’t take place until May, but every game between now and the end of the season carries tremendous weight in the meantime. This is especially true for the Utah Jazz, who really need a bonafide superstar to be the face of the franchise and turn this rebuilding team into a competitive one.
That’s exactly why landing Duke’s Cooper Flagg is a top priority, given he’s the best prospect in the 2025 NBA Draft and is a franchise-altering two-way talent.
Following a recent series of wins from the Washington Wizards, aided by a 10-game losing streak by Utah, the Jazz now hold the best lottery odds. The bottom three teams in the reverse standings each earn the same odds at the No. 1 overall pick, but being the very bottom team means your pick can’t fall as far. As such, Utah should be hoping to maintain the worst record in the NBA — currently holding that honor at 15-54.

Again, the odds of landing the top pick are very small — even for the worst team in the NBA — but it’s still advantageous to finish last. Worst-case scenario, the selection falls to No. 5 overall, which would still net a quality prospect. The puzzle pieces are starting to come together in Utah, but a big splash in June's draft could take things to the next level.
