NBA Fans Are Shocked After Tyrese Haliburton's Injury Marks Another Break For The Celtics
Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals was a hard-fought affair between both teams and you could tell that they both desperately wanted to win. For the Celtics, however, their run of good fortunate continued on Thursday after yet another star player succumbed to an injury early in the series.

"Pacers All-NBA G Tyrese Haliburton — who is out for the rest of Game 2 vs. the Celtics — departed with left hamstring soreness, sources tell ESPN. Haliburton missed 10 games with a left hamstring strain in January," reported ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski after the game.

On social media, fans weren't too surprised with the results but they did express some level of resentment towards the Celtics and their path to the Finals this year.

As far as championships go, this one will come with an asterisk for the Celtics if they manage to win it -- at least, in the eyes of some within the NBA community.

Haliburton's exact prognosis is unknown but he didn't look too great during the game. In 27 minutes, he dropped just 10 points and 8 assists on 33% shooting from three. He was even worse on the defensive end, where he got abused all night long by the Celtics' backcourt, who combined for 38 points. Jrue Holiday only missed one shot all night, going 6-7 from the field with 15 points.

Haliburton has struggled for most of the post-season and besides some flashes here and there, he just hasn't been the same player that led his team to the play-in tournament Finals back in December. Even so, his role is crucial to the Pacers and they cannot operate effectively on offense if he's not playing at his best.

In the first two rounds, against injured and battered teams, the Pacers were able to take advantage and outlast their competition. This time, however, it won't prove so easy. Even without Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics have gone undefeated in the series and they are major favorites to win in Indiana for Games 3 and 4.

Without Haliburton in the fold, or at least not at full strength, the Celtics' path just got even easier and they were already pretty lucky to face the Heat without Jimmy Butler and the Cavaliers without Donovan Mitchell for the final few games. As it stands, they might not face a real challenge until the NBA Finals.

No Excuses For The Boston Celtics

Even if the East had been fully healthy, the Celtics would have still been favored to make the Finals. With Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick White, they have one of the best starting lineups in basketball that's experienced, well-balanced, and extremely talented across all areas of the court.

Combine the starters with a deep and versatile bench, and it's a recipe for success in a Conference that's already in a weakened state. Compared to the West, things are much easier for teams on the Atlantic side and it shows in the standings when a team like the Bucks (who won 49 games) managed to finish in 3rd place.

Now that injuries have gone completely off the rails this post-season, the Celtics are the only team left intact and it's made for a cake-walk through the Eastern Conference. What happens in the Finals, however, is still completely up for grabs considering the only teams that are left have never won it before.

LeBron James Gives Himself a New Nickname Amid Newest Addiction

LeBron James is addicted ... to golf, that is. The Los Angeles Lakers star said so himself, and he continues to show just how obsessed he is with the sport. After the Lakers' failed playoff run during the 2024-25 season, James has spent a huge chunk of his offseason playing golf. There have been a lot of comments about James' golf swing, with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum even saying he needs to "loosen up a little bit." LeBron James Gives Himself a New Nickname Sure enough, James has shown significant improvement as he continues to work on his golf game. In fact, James was on a golf course along with plenty of friends recently, when he produced a highlight moment. Apparently, he pulled off a bunker chip-in, which his friends attested to. The Lakers forward called it "the highlight of the weekend" for him, adding that he "couldn't believe it." James was so hyped that he even gave himself a new nickname. "I mean call me LeScottie Scheffler," he wrote on his Instagram Stories, referencing the PGA Tour's current No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler. It remains to be seen how Scheffler will react to James' self-proclaimed nickname, although it's not a surprise why the four-time NBA champion was inspired by the golf star. LeBron James' 'Cold' Message for Scottie Scheffler It's worth noting that James was among the first to celebrate Scheffler's latest victory at the BMW Championship. In the contest, Scheffler entered the final round trailing Robert MacIntyre by four strokes. However, he turned things around on the last day of the competition in Maryland and secured a two-shot victory to claim his fifth tournament title this year. During Scheffler's comeback, James was tuned in and even posted on X how "crazy" his performance was. "Scheffler so damn COLD out there!!" James exclaimed. James is obviously a huge fan of Scheffler, and with the Lakers star not afraid to show it, maybe fans would see the real Scottie Scheffler play LeScottie Scheffler in the future.

Former Green Bay Packers RB to miss entire 2025 NFL season due to injury

The Green Bay Packers are dealing with some concerning injuries to significant members of their roster. As their fans are well aware, the Packers have seen multiple wide receivers projected to be at the top of the depth cart go down during training camp with various injuries. Christian Watson, of course, has not been practicing all offseason as he is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears. In addition to him, the Packers also played their previous preseason game without Romeo Doubs (back), Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf). And while Doubs returned to practice this week, Reed and Wicks remain out. Elsewhere around the NFL, other teams are dealing with injuries of their own, and some involve players that are former Packers. Former Green Bay Packers running back Patrick Taylor is out for the 2025-26 NFL season One of these players is former Packers running back Patrick Taylor, who played in Green Bay from 2021-2023. An undrafted free agent who often filled in as Green Bay’s third running back, he accumulated 261 rushing yards and a touchdown in his three seasons with the Packers. He found himself out of a job when the Packers revamped their running back room before the 2024 NFL season. Taylor ended up with the San Francisco 49ers last season and had the best year of his career with 183 rushing yards and a touchdown while appearing in 13 games. He will not be playing any games this season as San Francisco just put him on season-ending injured reserve: NFL teams can only have so many players on an injured reserve list. Interestingly, Taylor’s injury led to the 49ers to release another former Packer, wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, who was placed on injured reserve last week. In order to release an injured player, teams and that player must come to an injury settlement, which St. Brown received. He is now free to sign with any team in the NFL should he be able to pass a physical.

New report sheds light on how Cowboys view Micah Parsons situation

It is no secret that the relationship between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys is not on solid ground, but that does not necessarily mean it is tarnished beyond repair. On the latest episode of his podcast, which was released on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter predicted that Parsons and the Cowboys are "headed towards divorce." Schefter said the two sides have not spoken since April and that it seems like a matter of when — not if — they part ways. Longtime NFL reporter Josina Anderson was told the situation is not quite that grim, at least from the Cowboys' perspective. Anderson reported on Tuesday evening that the relationship between Parsons and Dallas "has not deteriorated to the point of an imminent divorce." "I did not detect any obvious tones of concern in my sourced conversation when I recently asked about ESPN's Adam Schefter's report stating he sees 'these two sides headed towards a divorce, in time.' ... I just feel Dallas has so much history with protracted (and) sensitive negotiations, thus my current impression is the club remains unrattled, at this time," Anderson wrote in a post on X. Parsons is earning just over $24M in the final year of his rookie contract this season. The 26-year-old had 12 sacks in 13 games last season and has 52.5 sacks in 63 career games. Parsons is arguably the best pass-rusher in the NFL when healthy. Although Parsons has formally requested a trade, the Cowboys maintain that they have no intention of dealing their four-time Pro Bowl defensive end. The only real leverage Parsons has is creating a headache in Dallas. He remains under contract, and the Cowboys also have the ability to use the franchise tag on him in each of the next two seasons. If Parsons were to sit out regular-season games, his contract would eventually toll. Even with Jerry Jones publicly taking shots at Parsons, one massive contract offer could change everything.

'Fantastic club, but I only want to go to Chelsea' – Player dedicated to only joining The Blues

There is a player that is dedicated on only joining Chelsea right now and will go nowhere else, not even Bayern Munich. Oddly, Fabrizio Romano has been all over Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea all summer, almost as if he’s been pushing it to happen! I’m joking of course, but he has been putting regular updates out on it almost on a daily basis, and he had another one out yesterday. Sources: Chelsea now expecting permanent offers in for Christopher Nkunku! Xavi Simons is another attacker Chelsea are looking to try and sign before the window closes alongside Garnacho. The Simons stuff has become pretty frustrating really, but there is still an expectation that Chelsea will be signing him this window. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also put out more info on it last night when he told DAZN that he gives Simons to Chelsea an 85% chance of still happening this window, which is very positive I guess. But yesterday it was reported that Chelsea are confident of signing both players this window still. Garnacho only wants Chelsea Fabrizio Romano spoke on his YouTube channel last night and said: “Bayern called Garnacho’s camp to understand the situation, and the answer was, ‘Thanks, fantastic club, but I only want to go to Chelsea.’ As I’ve been telling you, as of today he won’t go to any other club.” Why does he only want Chelsea? It’s great of course, that some players seem to really want to come to Chelsea. But why does Garnacho only want to join the club? I just find that really odd. What if Chelsea cannot sign him because they cannot agree a fee? Then what? He’s turning other clubs down and gambling on waiting for Chelsea? I find it very odd. But as I say, it’s great that he desperately only wants to join Chelsea!
