The Gulf Coast was greeted with a powerful winter storm this Tuesday, covering Texas and Louisiana in snow. With that said, this storm will impact the NBA's regular-season schedule.
The Milwaukee Bucks were supposed to take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at the Smoothie King Center. There was a good amount of hype surrounding this matchup since both teams are on four-game winning streaks. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a bit longer to see Giannis Antetokounmpo and Zion Williamson square off in the Big Easy.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the league has postponed tonight's Bucks-Pelicans game. It's unclear when this game will actually take place.
"New Orleans Pelicans-Milwaukee Bucks game tonight will be postponed due to the snow storm in New Orleans. Many roads are closed off and icy," Haynes said.
This was a no-brainer for the NBA, as parts of New Orleans reported 9.5 inches of snow on Tuesday. Collin M. Arnold, the director of the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, believes the next few days could be tricky for the city.
"We’re concerned about the next two days," Arnold said, via NBC News. "The continued temperatures being below freezing over the next day and a half, the snow that we have is not really going to go anywhere — and, in fact, probably start to become, you know, ice. And so that could be very difficult for our roadways."
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the snow storm in New Orleans could force the NBA to also postpone the Buck' game that's set for this Thursday.
"Milwaukee is scheduled to host Miami on Thursday and there’s concern on if the team will be able to depart New Orleans in time for the game," Haynes added.
Hopefully, everyone in New Orleans stays safe during this snow storm.
