During the 2024-25 NBA season, one of the biggest stories was the turmoil within the Philadelphia 76ers. Amid the injury issues around Joel Embiid, the 76ers reportedly had a team meeting. Unfortunately for Philly, the players-only meeting was revealed to the public.
It was initially reported by league insider Shams Charania of ESPN. In his report, he revealed that All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey confronted Embiid. His tardiness was the source of this, which had a detrimental effect on the locker room. While it was a players-only meeting, there were talks that someone leaked the information.
The 2023 MVP disclosed in his most recent interview with ESPN that he is aware of the source of the meeting's leak.
In the latest episode of ESPN's "The Sports Reporters," Charania revealed his thoughts on the Embiid matter.
"There was a story this past season, Tyrese Maxey essentially calling out Joel Embiid in a team’s players-only meeting for being tardy and needing to show more accountability," Charania said.
According to the reporter, he received a lot of attention from people wanting to know where he learned about the confrontation. There have also been a few people who threw wild guesses about who the source was. However, Charania claimed that no one has come close to guessing the leak.
The media personality even talked about Embiid's claims of knowing the locker room snitch.
“I saw a quote Joel Embiid actually said like, ‘I know who the source is,’ I know who my main source was, I’d be stunned if he knows that.”
The Cameroonian celebrity has not yet disclosed the identity of the person he claims to know who spoke to the media. As for Charania, he's just doing his job as a reporter, to let the people know the latest news around the NBA.
