Ben Simmons wants to play for two NBA teams, but unfortunately for the New York Knicks, they’re not in his considerations.

Ben Simmons is looking to continue in the NBA. What once looked to be a promising future for Simmons has turned into a very mediocre reality.

After his fall from All-Star grace in 2021, Simmons has had middling stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the LA Clippers.

Now, Simmons enters free agency for the first time in his career. And surprisingly, despite his struggles, there are teams looking to sign him.

Simmons currently has four NBA teams looking to sign him. So he isn’t exactly struggling for options to extend his NBA career.

One of the teams interested in signing Simmons is the New York Knicks. Unfortunately for them, it appears that interest is not mutual.

Ben Simmons wants Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings, not New York Knicks

An NBA insider by the name of Ary on X took to the social media platform to give an update on Ben Simmons. Similar to Brett Siegel’s report, Ary linked Simmons to the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings.

As far as the New York Knicks go, it appears Simmons doesn’t have any interest in playing for them. The same goes for the Phoenix Suns.

“I believe Ben Simmons is leaning toward signing with the Boston Celtics, but that’s not confirmed. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Sacramento either.

“I can say pretty confidently from sources that indications point toward Simmons not wanting the Knicks. I’ll rule out Phoenix, too.”

New York Knicks might have to look elsewhere for reinforcements

Simmons spurning the New York Knicks might actually be a good thing for them. Granted, there aren’t many ball handlers with Simmons’ physical tools, but the point guard comes with his flaws.

For starters, Simmons is practically unplayable during the playoffs. His unwillingness to take shots, combined with his low success rate, makes him a net-negative on the court.

Add to that Simmons’ weakness from the free-throw line, and opposing teams will target Simmons during late-game situations.

Clippers coach Ty Lue said Simmons isn’t as aggressive as he needs to be, which has been an unfortunate trademark of his play the last few years.

The Knicks are strapped for cash, sitting just a little over $3 million under the second apron. As such, it might be better for them to find a player who gets them good value for money.
