The Chicago Bulls are winning games now, and it’s thanks in no small part to Josh Giddey.

Following his lengthy contract saga, the guard is quickly living up to the $100 million tag. He’s been electric this season, and the Bulls have somehow gotten off to one of the best starts in franchise history.

Chicago is tied for first in the Eastern Conference. Giddey has been so good that one NBA insider had to discuss just how good he’s actually been.

More News: Insider doesn’t think Chicago Bulls make sense for superstar trade

Giddey has been amazing to start the year. The Chicago Bulls guard is averaging 22.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. It is wildly impressive to be in the top 30 in all three stats as a guard, although each individual metric isn’t mindboggling.

However, Tim Legler of ESPN thinks fans might not realize just how good the player has been.

“I don’t think you understand how well this guy has played,” Legler said. “You gotta watch him, and I guarantee you’ll be a fan of his game if you watch… Everything he does is simple, but it’s highly effective. The guy’s IQ is off the charts.”

Legler praised Giddey’s ability to know where the next pass needs to go or how to break down a defense off a ball screen. “He just processes it so fast,” the ESPN insider went on.

Can Giddey become an All-Star this season?

Legler also went on to say how fascinating it’s been to watch Giddey. He’s gone from being unplayable with the Oklahoma City Thunder to a budding star on the Bulls. As Legler put it, “they took him off the floor,” to a superstar in Chicago. This has largely been due to his growth from outside shooting.

Legler broke down how shooters are better passers because they can blow by a closeout and get into the middle of the defense and find the right pass to make. Giddey couldn’t do that in OKC because no one respected his jumper. Now, they do, and it’s helping him morph into a much better player.

Giddey is shooting over 40% on low volume from three, but it’s clearly changing things. “He’s just been fun to watch, one of the really fun players to watch in the Eastern Conference,” Legler concluded.

Giddey is making a strong case to be an All-Star this year for the surging Bulls.
