After making the NBA Playoffs and giving the Cleveland Cavaliers a run for their money, the Orlando Magic will now be focusing on what lies ahead in the offseason.
It was a fantastic 2023-24 season for the Orlando Magic. As a young team, there was a ton of growth, as they finished in the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and were able to make the playoffs for the first time with the new core.
Balance was key for the Magic this season, as they had six players average double-digit points. Leading the way was Paolo Banchero. Banchero was able to have his best season yet in the league, as he averaged 22.6 points per game.
While it was a very strong season for the Magic, they are still a young team with room to grow and cap space this offseason. One of the players that the Orlando Magic might pursue in the offseason is Klay Thompson.
"The Magic can open up an excess of sixty million dollars in cap space this off season…One name to keep an eye on, Klay Thompson, I'm told there is mutual interest between the Magic and Klay Thompson."@ShamsCharania on the Magic's future plans.

Going after a veteran like Thompson certainly makes a lot of sense for the Magic. While Thompson might not be the superstar he was in Golden State, he still can light it up from 3-point land. 3-point shooting was certainly an issue for the Magic and adding Thompson would instantly help that.
With a potential breakup happening in Golden State, Thompson does seem to be open to taking on a little bit less of a role and came off the bench as well last season. On a young team like the Magic, Thompson wouldn’t be asked to play 35 minutes a night at this stage in his career.
As the summer approaches in the NBA, the Orlando Magic will certainly be a team to keep an eye on in free agency. Due to them having cap space and a young core, they are a very desirable destination to play for.
