The NBA offseason hasn’t yet started, but for the Hawks, it certainly has, and it should be quite entertaining for fans.
The club holds a pair of first-round picks, plenty of wiggle room to add in free agency, and enough capital to make a blockbuster trade. There have been plenty of rumors so far, and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line sifted through it all.
Yesterday, the NBA insider noted that “there hasn’t been much chatter among league sources about Atlanta exploring the idea of packaging those selections to move up in the draft.” However, he recanted today.
“Since publishing those words, various sources have indicated that they do believe the Hawks will fall right in line with Oklahoma City, Orlando and Brooklyn as teams with multiple picks in the mid-to-late first round exploring various avenues to move up the draft board,” Fischer wrote.
The Hawks could look to increase their chances of landing a top prospect in this year’s class by moving up the board, and Stein added that rival teams assume it would be a big man, as Clint Capela is expected to leave in free agency this summer.
Furthermore, Fischer confirmed that the Hawks have an interest in Myles Turner, viewing him in the past as someone who might make sense as a sign-and-trade target. However, the price for Turner has only gone up over this incredible postseason run with the Pacers, who want to re-sign the stretch big man.
Fischer also confirmed previous reports that the Hawks are interested in re-signing Caris LeVert, describing the interest as “keen.”
