After winning 50 games during the 2024-25 NBA season, the Los Angeles Clippers have one major piece of the core that led them to their success who could leave during the offseason.

James Harden is not tied to the team for the 2025-26 season as he is contract only has a player option remaining.

Harden has not yet given an indication of his offseason plans, but Clippers fans have just received some good news about what the future holds for the 11-time All-Star.

In a recent guest article on The Stein Line discussing this offseason's point guard market, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that James Harden is expected to return to the Clippers this offseason.

Harden sticking around in LA makes a whole lot of sense for both sides.

Harden has fit in well with the Clippers over the past couple of seasons.

He has elevated his defense after years as a liability on that end of the floor. He was part of a Clippers squad that was fourth in the NBA in points allowed.

Harden continued to produce on offense as well.

At 35 years old, Harden still averaged 22.8 points and 8.7 assists per game.

There aren't many options of Harden's caliber who will be available this offseason if he walks, so this should be a priority for the Clippers.

Fischer also mentioned that Harden is looking for a longer deal, so fans shouldn't expect to see him stick around for just the $36.3 million his player option is worth.

Whatever it ends up costing them, it sounds like the Clippers are going to get to run it back next season with their 2024-25 core.
