As the NBA gears up for another season, former league star Allen Iverson has been busy off the court. On Tuesday, Iverson made headlines after announcing some personal news.

"One of my best decisions that I ever made in my life was to stop drinking… Six months now…," Iverson said during an interview with "CBS Mornings."

Iverson was asked about how he feels now compared to when he was drinking.

"Better than I did when I was doing it," Iverson said. "When you get drunk, you're not how you usually are. The more and more I see it on other people, the more and more it make me happy about the decision. And the more and more I see how the people around me appreciate it, I love it."

Iverson was also working on a book called "Misunderstood." After announcing his book tour back in August, Tuesday was also the day his book was released.

"Book out now!" Iverson posted. He told Maurice DuBois of CBS that the readers get to hear “from the horse’s mouth” as he sets the record straight on his memorable career and his real thoughts about practice: “You think you know, but you have no idea.”

Iverson is known for his time playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. He played 14 seasons in the NBA and was with the 76ers from 1996 to 07 and from 2009 to 10.

Iverson also spent time with the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies as he went on to win an NBA MVP award and get selected to 11 All-Star Games.
