The Indiana Pacers came into the NBA Finals as massive underdogs to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but have now forced the series to the league's first title-deciding Game 7 in nearly a decade.
The Pacers seized control early in Thursday's Game 6, shaking off a 10-2 deficit to start the game and outscoring the Thunder 68-32 over the next 24 minutes. Though ESPN noted that the Pacers didn't have a double-digit lead at any point in the series before Thursday, they built a 20-point halftime lead and cruised to a 108-91 victory.
The Pacers have now forced the first NBA Finals Game 7 since 2016, when the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors.
The NBA took to social media to announce the nine-year streak without a Game 7 had ended, catching the attention of NBA legend Scottie Pippen. The former Chicago Bulls great -- who won six NBA titles without ever going to a Game 7 -- had no words in reaction to the post.
Pippen instead posted a basketball emoji next to a heart emoji, a message that the NBA re-shared.

The Pacers got a strong performance from star Tyrese Haliburton, who was a game-time decision with a right calf strain. Haliburton played 23 minutes, going 5-of-12 for 14 points, adding five assists, one rebound, and two steals.
