Over the summer, the San Antonio Spurs addressed their clear need at point guard by signing one of the best to ever lace them up. After 19 seasons of playing against him in the Western Conference, the Spurs signed Chris Paul to a one-year deal.

Paul is certainly past his prime, but he is still a high-level floor general and facilitator who can get the most out of his young teammates. Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama have benefited massively from playing next to him, and most of the Spurs' eventual success can be traced back to Paul's mentorship this season.

On Wednesday, the Spurs took on the Dallas Mavericks, and the NBA made an announcement regarding Chris Paul.

With 20 seasons under his belt, Paul has rarely had any long-standing injuries cause him to miss games, and on Wednesday, he passed Gary Payton for 17th all-time on the most games played list. Robert Parish (1,611) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,560) are the top two, and Paul's mark of 1,336 means he has a long way to go if he wants to take that record.

LeBron James is at 1,550 and counting, and it is expected that he will cruise past Parish before he hangs them up.

Paul is second to John Stockton on both the all-time assists and steals leaderboards and is widely regarded as one of the best point guards of all-time.

The other Spurs in the top 20 of the most games played is Tim Duncan, at 11th, amassed over 19 seasons, and Kevin Willis, who won a ring with the Spurs in 2004. Moses Malone ended his career by playing 17 games for the Spurs.
