Cooper Flagg secured his first win in the NBA on Sunday, helping lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 139-129 win over Scottie Barnes and the Toronto Raptors. Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, scored a career-high 22 points against Toronto on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting. Flagg also added four rebounds, four assists, a block and two triples, without committing a single turnover in 29 minutes of action.
This was easily Flagg’s best game of the new season. After starting the campaign with back-to-back losses, the Mavs have now improved to 1-2, thanks in part to Flagg’s strong play.
Flagg hasn’t exactly been incredible to start his rookie year. In his first NBA game, the former Duke Blue Devils star logged a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, but failed to record a single assist despite taking over point guard duties for the injured Kyrie Irving.
Flagg’s playmaking was considerably better on Sunday. He was very efficient, too, and the fact that he did not turn the ball over against Toronto is impressive. In fact, Flagg made a bit of NBA history with his performance.
The league took to social media on Sunday night to announce Flagg’s milestone in just his third game.
“Cooper Flagg became the 2nd player in NBA history at 18 years or younger to record a game with 20+ PTS and 0 TOs in tonight’s win vs. the Raptors ” the league posted on X.

As the post indicates, the only other player to have achieved this feat is the late, great Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant is, without a doubt, one of the greatest to ever do it, and for Flagg to be mentioned in the same breath as the fallen Lakers legend is an absolute honor for the young Mavs stud.
Flagg and Co. will now be looking to make it two wins in a row when they return to action in their next game. This comes in the form of a home matchup against reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Monday.
It’s a back-to-back set for Dallas, with tipoff from American Airlines Center scheduled at 8:30 p.m. ET.
