NBA Makes Historic LeBron James Announcement on Christmas

The Los Angeles Lakers needed a clutch shot from Austin Reaves to take down the Golden State Warriors in their Christmas Day showdown. Thanks to that, LeBron James was able to make even more NBA history.

Over the last few days, James has been consistently breaking records. For those who missed it, the Lakers superstar recently surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most minutes played and most 10-point games ever.

Earlier this month, he also became just the second player after Abdul-Jabbar to reach 15,000 field goals.

Now, during Wednesday's game, James added another achievement to an already Hall-of-Fame career. With the Lakers winning 115-113, the four-time MVP became the winningest NBA player in Christmas Day games.

James entered the contest tied with Dwyane Wade with 10 wins in the holiday game. Now, he has 11 in 19 appearances.

The NBA announced the accomplishment following the Lakers' victory, writing in the caption, "The updated #NBAXmas stats following today’s action!"

While it was Austin Reaves who gave the Lakers the victory after his game-winning lay-up with one second left on the clock, LeBron James did his part and was actually the biggest reason for LA's win.

James recorded a team-high 31 points to go along with four rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and one block. He shot 12-of-22 from the field, including 2-of-4 from the 3-point line.

While Steph Curry and the Warriors gave the Lakers a late scare, going on a 13-4 run in the final 90 seconds, the Purple and Gold held on.

Aside from having the most wins in Christmas, though, James also secured more Dec. 25 records in the process. He increased his Christmas points to 500 and field goals made to 180, which remain atop the list.

James is also now the all-time steals leader in Christmas with 32 and tied with James Harden for most 3-pointers made with 31.

Indeed, it's a day to remember for James.
