Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets are back in action on Friday against the Detroit Pistons. The Rockets are looking to bounce back after Thursday’s 128-122 loss to Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Durant has been excellent in his first year with the Rockets following his offseason blockbuster trade from the Phoenix Suns. Entering Friday’s game against Detroit, Durant averaged 26.1 points on 51.4% shooting, 5.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.0 blocks in 36.8 minutes per game. The former NBA MVP is also knocking down 2.3 triples per game on a highly efficient 40.4% clip.
Thanks in part to Durant’s strong play, Houston headed into the Pistons game with a 26-16 record for fourth in the Western Conference.
Durant marked another career milestone on Friday. He entered the game with 2,281 three-pointers in his 18 years in the NBA. He knocked down two more in the first half against Detroit, allowing him to climb the all-time leaderboards for most career threes.
The NBA took to social media to announce Durant’s latest career milestone.
“Congrats to @KDTrey5 of the @HoustonRockets for moving into 11th on the all-time THREE-POINTERS MADE list!” the NBA posted on X.

Durant has surpassed NBA champion guard Jason Terry for the No. 11 spot on the historic list. The Rockets superstar is now chasing NBA legend Vince Carter, who has 2,290 three-pointers under his belt.
It’s a tight game in Detroit for the Rockets and the Pistons. As of writing, the game is tied 52-52 at halftime. Durant was on fire in the first half, registering 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, to go along with three triples, one rebound and three assists in just 189 minutes of action.
