Boston has rounded out its 21-man preseason roster by signing guard/forward Wendell Moore Jr. to an Exhibit 10 contract, per Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog.
Moore, 24, was the 26th pick in the 2022 draft and spent time with Minnesota, Detroit and Charlotte last season. He saw his most meaningful NBA action late with the Hornets, averaging 5.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 17.5 minutes over 16 games.
The Celtics are carrying 14 standard contracts and three two-way deals, and they aren’t expected to add a 15th man for tax reasons.
Moore’s best shot at sticking would be winning a two-way spot. Otherwise, he’s likely headed to the G League’s Maine Celtics, where he’d be eligible for an Exhibit 10 bonus worth up to $85,300.
Minnesota is giving veteran forward Alize Johnson a camp look, per Shams Charania of ESPN. It’s expected to be a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal.
Johnson, 29, was the 50th pick in 2018 and has logged 76 NBA games across five seasons with six different teams. He last played in the league with the Spurs in 2022 and has spent the past couple of years overseas in South Korea, Puerto Rico and Japan.
The Wolves still have three open camp spots, so no corresponding move was needed.
Sacramento has signed shooting guard Dexter Dennis to an Exhibit 10 contract, per Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot.
Dennis, 26, went undrafted in 2023 and spent most of the past two years in the G League. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 31 minutes for Stockton last season, helping lead Sacramento’s affiliate to an NBAGL title.
This signing is expected to set Dennis up for another year in Stockton, with a chance to collect an Exhibit 10 bonus if he sticks for 60 days.
Sacramento now has a full 21-man camp roster, meaning someone will need to be cut if the reported Daniel Batcho deal is finalized.
