NBA News: 4-Time Super Bowl Champ Makes Hilarious Joke About Spiking Larry O’Brien Trophy
Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Champions usually share similar mental traits, regardless of what sport they play. Be it the NBA or the NFL, winners have similar approaches to their chosen discipline and find ways to succeed regardless of the obstacles they face in their areers as professional athletes.

This fact rings true for one Rob Gronkowski. He’s one of the most dominant tight ends to ever step into the gridiron, setting the standard on what the position can do in the modern NFL. It won’t be strange to say he’s the best athlete to play the position.

Gronk is enjoying retirement, and part of his post-NFL life is getting invited to NBA-related activities. During one of these engagements, he made a hilarious proposition that seems silly at first but is definitely something that Gronk would do if given the opportunity.

Rob Gronkowski asked if he could spike the NBA trophy

The Larry O’Brien trophy was presented to multiple celebrities recently as a part of the league’s efforts to ramp up the hype around the NBA playoffs.

The future Hall of Famer was among the celebs who was presented with the trophy. In true Gronk fashion, the 34-year-old immediately made one interesting request:

While the act is most likely done in jest, everyone who knows Gronkowski understands that the man is willing to perform such acts if he finds a random spurt of inspiration to do whatever he feels like doing.

Who is Gronk’s equivalent in the league?

Gronk offers a unique blend of talent and charisma that not many players in the league can imitate. It’s fair if you think there aren’t any players who can match Gronk at every level.

However, Joel Embiid is one of the players who can be compared to Gronk. While he doesn’t have the championships to compare with Rob, he has the skill and personality to stand out in the NBA.

The Sixers may only be one key player away from finally having a strong team that can help them win an NBA title, so this comparison may not be as farfetched as one may think.
