Anfernee Simons may still be wearing green when the Celtics open the 2025–26 season.
Boston has reportedly explored trade options for Simons since acquiring him from Portland in the Jrue Holiday deal earlier this offseason, but no move has materialized. One NBA general manager told Heavy Sports’ Sean Deveney that Boston appears in no rush to make a decision.
“You never know, but the team they have now is probably the team they’ll start the year with,” the GM said. “They could get themselves involved in some blockbuster. But they’re not in a hurry to make that move.”
The executive also left the door open for a potential bounce-back season from Simons, who turns 26 this month and has one year remaining on his contract at $27.7 million.
“Sometimes a situation changes and the light bulb goes on for a guy,” the GM added. “He is still a young guy, and if he is willing to learn, he could come out a better player. So you wait to trade him to see if that happens.”
Simons averaged 19.3 points and 4.8 assists last season for the Blazers while shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three.
The Celtics have not held an introductory press conference since acquiring him — a possible sign of how they view his role going forward.
Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo announced he will miss this summer’s EuroBasket tournament after recently aggravating the turf toe injury that sidelined him for 19 games last season. The Italian basketball federation confirmed the issue affects his left big toe.
Italy’s national team coordinator Gigi Datome said DiVincenzo could require up to four months of therapy. Despite the setback, DiVincenzo pledged his long-term commitment to Italy’s national program.
The NBA revealed plans for multiple international regular-season games over the next three years. The Grizzlies and Magic will play in Berlin on Jan. 15 and London on Jan. 18, 2026. Additional games are scheduled for Manchester and Paris in 2027 and for Berlin and Paris in 2028.
The 2026 matchup in Germany will mark the league’s first regular-season game in that country.
