NBA Notes: Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Celtics, Heat, Terry Rozier

The Bucks are keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo happy by keeping his brother. Specifically, Milwaukee re-signed forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a one-year, $2.9 million guaranteed deal, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The move is official, the team announced.

Giannis had explored options earlier this summer while playing for Greece at EuroBasket, but for now he is set to stay put in Milwaukee. Having his brother back on board only helps the cause.

Of course, if the Bucks stumble, speculation around Giannis could pick up again.

Thanasis, 32, is coming off Achilles surgery last spring. He was medically cleared to play earlier this year and is also suiting up for Greece. He has appeared in 196 games with the Bucks since 2019.

The signing gives Milwaukee 15 guaranteed deals, which could leave Andre Jackson Jr.’s roster spot in jeopardy.

Celtics projected to fall short: Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes wrote that Boston will not return to the Finals with Jayson Tatum as its best player.

Tatum will miss all of this season with a torn Achilles, and Hughes believes that by the time he is fully back, Boston’s core will be too expensive and too old to contend. He predicted the Celtics could eventually look to move Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.

Heat trying to move Rozier: The Heat continue to look for trade options involving veteran guard Terry Rozier, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Interest around the league is described as minimal.

Rozier has two years left on his deal, starting at $26.6 million this season. Miami is said to have some interest in a buyout, though none is imminent. Rozier averaged 10.6 points in 64 games last season.
