Dylan Windler is still chasing the NBA dream. The former Cavaliers first-round pick re-signed with the Perth Wildcats this spring, but he made it clear that the ultimate goal is to get back to the league, via ESPN’s Olgan Uluc.

“Ultimately, I wanna play at the highest level and get back in the NBA,” Windler said. “If you play well here, you’re always in a position to get back there.”

Windler has also spent time with the Knicks, Lakers and Hawks, appearing in 101 NBA games overall. He carries career averages of 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Perth keeping options open: The Wildcats still have an import slot available and have kicked the tires on several former NBA players, Uluc reported.

Among those considered were Zavier Simpson, Jahmir Young and Emmanuel Mudiay. Simpson and Young signed elsewhere, while Mudiay continues to weigh his next move. More recent names include Kobi Simmons and Yuri Collins.

Also, longtime NBA guard Patrick Beverley had an interest in joining Perth, but the Wildcats never seriously engaged.

Scouts at the Blitz: The NBL Blitz tipped off last week, held in Canberra instead of the Gold Coast. Even with the shorter format, 12 NBA teams sent reps to scout, per Uluc.

Projected 2026 lottery pick Karim Lopez sat out with a back injury, but scouts still had plenty to watch. Dash Daniels — the younger brother of Hawks standout Dyson Daniels –drew interest, as did Perth’s Ben Henshall and Malique Lewis of the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

Another player getting real attention was Jaylin Galloway. He had a short stint with the Bucks on a two-way deal in 2024, then returned to the Sydney Kings. Galloway impressed with Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup, and evaluators were watching closely to see if his game is ready for an NBA comeback.
