Lakers

Lakers coach JJ Redick said some players need to improve their conditioning and stamina this offseason, per Khobi Price of the Orange County Register.

Redick emphasized the importance of being in “championship shape,” for starters.

“I’ll start with the offseason and the work that’s required in an offseason to be in championship shape,” he said. “And we have a ways to go as a roster. And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape.

“There’s certainly other ones that could have been in better shape. That’s where my mind goes immediately is we have to get in championship shape.”

Clippers

  • Team president Lawrence Frank said the Clippers will prioritize frontcourt depth and younger talent this offseason, per Janis Carr of the Orange County Register. “I think we need to add (players),” Frank said.
  • He pointed to the Western Conference’s depth and youth as a challenge: “It doesn’t get easier. It gets harder … some are in their prime, some are pre-primed, some are also comparable ages to our guys.”

Kings

  • Bobby Jackson is returning to the Kings’ coaching staff as an assistant under new full-time head coach Doug Christie, per Sean Cunningham of NBC Sacramento. Jackson spent the past two seasons with the 76ers. He previously served as head coach of the Kings’ G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, for two seasons.
  • The Kings hosted a group of draft prospects for workouts on Monday, per Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. The group included Missouri guard Tamar Bates, Florida center Rueben Chinyelu, Georgia guard Silas Demary, Villanova guard Wooga Poplar, and Kentucky center Amari Williams.
  • Williams is currently ranked No. 59 on ESPN’s top 100 draft board. Demary has transferred to UConn but is still testing the NBA Draft waters.
  • In case you missed it, former NBA guard B.J. Armstrong is joining new head of basketball operations Scott Perry in the Kings’ front office. We have the full story here.
