NBA Shares Message From Jayson Tatum After Big Celtics News

Even though the beginning of next season is still a couple of months away, Boston Celtics fans have had a lot to talk about this week.

On Tuesday, the team's $6.1 billion sale to new owner Bill Chilsolm became official. As the team goes through its most challenging time period in at least a few years, some fans are split on this monumental change as it remains to be seen just how serious the new ownership is about making winning a top priority.

Regardless, Celtics fans should feel at least a small boost in their happiness on Wednesday as they unexpectedly heard from star forward Jayson Tatum, who sent a big message about his recovery from his Achilles injury just one day after the team's big news.

"Rehab, it's tedious, man. It's six days a week. It's starting to get a little better. I'm out the boot now. Better days ahead, but just trying to take it one day at a time," Tatum said. "You've got to be resilient. That first six weeks of this was probably the toughest six weeks of any point in my life. Just had to accept it and realize it happened, and now I gotta do everything in my power to get back to who I was and get back to playing."

The St. Louis native suffered an Achilles injury during Boston's Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks in the playoffs. As he recovers from his injury, his status for next season is still up in the air as it is unknown if he will sit out the entire campaign or just a portion of it. Either way, Celtics fans should be glad t o hear from their franchise player during this tough time.

The Celtics' Outlook Looks Bleak Without Jayson Tatum

Just over a year after winning their NBA-record 18th title, Boston is already looking like a completely different team ahead of next season. Not only is Tatum on the shelf, but fans also had to say goodbye to Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Luke Kornet, and plenty of other players from the championship.

Regardless of whether they get their star player back at any point next season or not, it is going to be difficult for the Celtics to be legitimate title contenders as they retool their roster.

The future is still pretty bright in Boston with Tatum, Brown, and Derrick White locked up for the long haul. However, at least for next season, the team is expected to take a back seat and work things out as they look to navigate through a new era of Celtics basketball.
