Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors extended their winning streak to five games, holding off the Phoenix Suns 116-113 at Chase Center. The Warriors overcame a 17-point deficit to improve to 5-2 in the 2026-27 NBA season. However, they had to finish the game without Draymond Green, who was ejected early in the third quarter.

The incident began when Suns center Khaman Maluach knocked Green to the floor while battling for position in the paint. Green immediately got up, grabbed Maluach as he moved toward the basket and threw him to the court after the whistle. Officials assessed Green a technical foul for the retaliation.

Dillon Brooks then rushed over to defend his teammate, confronting Green near the basket. The longtime rivals grabbed each other and exchanged words before officials intervened. Green put his hand around Brooks’ neck during the confrontation.

After reviewing the sequence, officials assessed Green a second technical, while Brooks also received one. Green’s two technicals meant an automatic ejection.

The ejection could also prove expensive for Green. Under the NBA’s progressive ejection fine schedule, the first ejection costs $2,000, with each subsequent ejection adding $2,000 to the player’s previous ejection fine. The league could also review the physical confrontation and consider further discipline.

A suspension is not automatic, however. The NBA rulebook allows the commissioner to impose an additional fine of up to $50,000 and/or a suspension if an incident is deemed a fighting foul upon review. Green’s latest ejection is the 23rd of his regular-season career. He has also been ejected eight times in the playoffs.
