NBA Trade Idea: Heat Acquire LeBron James And Bronny James From Lakers

An NBA trade idea where the Miami Heat acquire LeBron James and Bronny James from the Los Angeles Lakers has been created.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Heat and Lakers:

Miami Heat receive: LeBron James, Bronny James and Dalton Knecht

Los Angeles Lakers receive: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., a 2029 first-round pick and a 2030 first-round pick swap (top-three protected)

LeBron would have to request a trade from the Lakers to the Heat for this NBA trade idea to happen since the leading scorer of all time has a no-trade clause in his contract.

LeBron played for the Heat from 2010-11 to 2013-14. He won two MVPs, two championships and two Finals MVPs with Miami.

The Heat were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Hall of Famer Pat Riley acquired Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason.

Now, Buckley wants to see Riley bring LeBron back to South Beach.

This NBA trade idea would give the Heat a “Big 3” of LeBron, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. LeBron, who turns 41 in December, is the oldest active player in the league, but he’s still an elite offensive force. The basketball legend finished sixth in MVP voting and made the All-NBA Second Team last season with the Lakers.

Los Angeles’ preferred scenario is for LeBron’s contract to drop off its books after next season, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line. LeBron will make $52.6 million next season in the final year of his contract.

All signs point toward next season being LeBron’s final campaign with the Lakers. In this NBA trade idea, Los Angeles gets something in return for King James, who averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists last season in 70 games.
