If two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason, Tony Jones of The Athletic proposed a wild trade idea between the Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
Jones proposed that the Sixers trade Paul George, Jared McCain, a 2025 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2029 pick swap and a 2030 first-round pick to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo.
"Obviously, taking back George is a tough proposition, but this is a trade proposal rich in assets, beginning with the 2025 first-round pick, which would land in the top six if Philadelphia keeps control," Jones wrote. "McCain is a terrific young prospect who would immediately give Milwaukee two young players to build off. The 2028 first-round pick is unprotected and lands in a year where the Clippers would either no longer have Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, or both be significantly slower.
"The same goes for the 2029 pick swap. In all, the Bucks would have to deal with George, but they would get a premium draft asset right away, a premium young talent in McCain and two potential premium future draft assets to go along with Philadelphia’s 2030 unprotected first-round pick. The Bucks aren’t going to find a potential top-five draft pick elsewhere."
The Sixers missed the playoffs this year despite having George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. All three players dealt with injuries, with George and Embiid undergoing surgeries.
Meanwhile, the Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the postseason in five games. Antetokounmpo and Co. have won only one playoff series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.
George appeared in 41 games for the Sixers this season. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists. The nine-time All-Star will make $51.7 million next season.
Antetokounmpo, who has spent his entire career with the Bucks, appeared in 67 games this season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists. The future Hall of Famer will make $54.1 million next season.
