The Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls have been in talks with the Miami Heat to help with the Jimmy Butler deal. The Suns have been linked since Butler made his request to be traded known to the public. However, the lack of assets has not made it possible for Phoenix to execute a trade and acquire the disgruntled star.
Fortunately for both the Suns and Heat, the Bulls could help the situation with Butler. Chicago will only help facilitate the trade but will likely involve two-time All-Star Zach LaVine. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst talked about how the Illinois-based could absorb Bradley Beal’s $50 million contract. The trade could work since it’s been reported that Miami isn’t willing to accept the star’s massive contract.
Windhorst talked about the developing situation on the newest episode of “The Hoop Collective.”
“What’s more interesting with the Bulls right now is they are absolutely involved in conversations with the Suns involving Jimmy – possible Jimmy Butler situations,” Windhorst said (44:40). “Not that Jimmy Butler would end in Chicago. But they would get involved in the trade.”
“If I’m talking about a three-team trade and Jimmy Butler is on one end, and it’s not going to Chicago, we’re talking about Bradley Beal.”
Butler has told the Heat that he intends to play with another team moving forward. Other clubs have asked for the star forward, but the organization has not made any headway. The star’s dissatisfaction with the existing circumstances in Miami has resulted in more issues.
In January alone, Butler has been suspended three times. His third suspension was issued on Monday, before their game against the Orlando Magic.
Jimmy Butler is certain that he will leave Miami and join a new team. Although the Suns remain at the top of his list of preferred destinations, the Heat can still move him to a place where they can benefit from what the team will receive in exchange. Former champion Kendrick Perkins believes Butler would fit well with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Perkins said on Monday’s “NBA Today” that the Grizzlies can benefit from acquiring the six-time All-Star.
“I feel like [Memphis Grizzlies] is the best destination for Jimmy Butler. I don’t know why Jimmy doesn’t want to be in Memphis. If you think about the core four they would have, there’s Desmond Bane, Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jimmy Butler. They’re already one of the best teams in the West, but I might pick the Grizzlies to go to the Finals if Jimmy Butler was on this team.”

However, insider Chris Haynes has reported that Butler has no interest in playing for the Memphis team. Still, that hasn’t stopped the organization from being attentive to the star’s situation.
