NBA locker rooms have many secret moments that fans rarely get to witness. Sometimes, the stories involve legendary players with off-court flexes.

Former NBA star Rasheed Wallace brought one such story to the light on the April 7, episode of the All the Smoke Unplugged podcast. Fellow former players Damon Stoudamire and Bonzi Wells also joined the conversation. Wallace then shared a funny memory of Pippen in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Pippen and teammate Greg Anthony had boarded the plane wearing the same suit. Wallace noticed the matching outfits right away as the two men sat facing each other while playing cards.

With his suit jacket draped over the back of his chair, Pippen noticed the matching looks. He decided to make a subtle statement to his teammates. Pippen told Wallace, “Oh man, you already know what mine is,” before casually showing him the inside of his jacket. It featured a custom Versace lining with “Scottie Pippen” stitched into the fabric.

Anthony immediately brushed off the fashion flex. He looked at his teammates and said, “Man, I ain’t gotta prove nothing to y’all.” Wallace realized the difference between the two garments. He joked that while Pippen’s suit was made in Italy, Anthony’s looked like a cheap one from a questionable location.

Neither Pippen nor Anthony has ever spoken about this specific flight openly. It remained an untold inside joke until Wallace shared the story with the world. Such subtle moments of status were standard for the 6-time NBA champion.

Scottie Pippen’s History of Unforgettable Locker Room Moments

A perfect example took place during the 1994 NBA All-Star Game. Pippen was having an incredible MVP-level season for the Bulls. However, he was frustrated with his ongoing contract situation.

Pippen tried on different team jerseys in the West locker room. He did this right in front of reporters after winning the All-Star MVP award and then asked media members how he looked in the rival colors. It was a clear signal that he was ready to leave Chicago, using fashion as a silent protest.

Even Michael Jordan was not completely safe from Pippen’s locker room antics. According to a widely circulated story, Pippen once shoved a heated Jordan into a bathroom. He locked the door from the outside and left him in there for half an hour to cool down. Pippen later joked about the incident with his teammates.

These stories show a different side of the Hall of Famer. It is exactly why basketball fans still love hearing these untold locker room tales years later. Which is your favorite behind-the-scenes NBA story?
