The Golden State Warriors will meet with Steve Kerr to discuss his future with the team. However, reports suggest they may opt for someone else to fill their coaching vacancy if no deal is made.
After guiding an injury-stricken roster to the play-in, Kerr’s time with the Dubs has become uncertain. His contract is up, and reports suggest that several key factors must be attained before the team retains him. While it’s hard to envision another tactician on the Warriors’ sidelines, there’s a chance that both the team and Kerr won’t reach a deal. Now, an NCAA championship coach has popped up for the Warriors vacancy – Dusty May.
“Dusty May is being monitored by the Golden State Warriors as a potential candidate if Steve Kerr decides to step down,” per Alex Schiffer.

For additional context, May led Michigan to the men’s NCAA national title. He’s ready to take the leap to the big league. Other teams are reportedly interested in him as well. The Orlando Magic, which recently fired Jamahl Mosley, is also interested in May.
Before any head coaching experience, Steve Kerr was once a beloved member of ESPN’s broadcasting team. And he was extremely good with that, too, before taking up the offer by the Warriors in 2014. That’s why, unsurprisingly, the media sports giant wants Kerr again on their team.
“League sources tell The Stein Line that ESPN’s top executives have been lobbying Kerr aggressively to try to convince him to return to the world of NBA broadcasting, but the Warriors are expected to meet with Kerr as early as Monday to resume discussions about his status,” per Stein’s report.
“I’m told Golden State has been operating internally in recent days as though it is more likely than not that a common ground can be found with the 60-year-old on a new deal that would keep him in place coaching Stephen Curry,” Stein added.
Whatever Steve Kerr decides upon this summer, it looks like he’ll have a job related to basketball either way.
