Brooklyn Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez accidentally injured Minnesota Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards on Thursday.
Edwards rolled his ankle on Fernandez, who was walking on the Nets bench.
This was an accident, as Fernandez likely wouldn't intentionally try to hurt Edwards.
Considered one of the top scorers in the NBA, Edwards entered the Timberwolves-Nets game averaging 27.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 44.2% from the field, 39.4% from beyond the arc and 83.7% from the free-throw line.
The Nets won't make the playoffs this season, while the Timberwolves are currently in the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings.
If the regular season ended today, Edwards and Co. would face LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.
Minnesota lost to Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 Western Conference Finals in five games.
Hopefully, Edwards' ankle injury isn't serious. He has been on an offensive tear lately for Minnesota, averaging 27.6 points over his last eight games.
A three-time All-Star, Edwards has career averages of 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He was the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Georgia.
