Nets' Joe Harris to have season-ending surgery

Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Joe Harris has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury in November and general manager Sean Marks said Thursday that any hope of a return this season is officially out the window.

"Joe has done every single thing he possibly could up to this point to avoid having surgery," Marks told reporters. "Unfortunately, it's been determined in the last 24 hours that he's going to have season-ending surgery."

Harris, 30, already had a surgery to repair the injury in November, but suffered a setbacks that will now require a second surgery.

The Nets signed Harris in 2016 shortly after he was waived by the Orlando Magic following a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. In six seasons with Brooklyn, Harris has been a three-point sharpshooter, breaking Jason Kidd's franchise record for made threes. He's currently third in NBA history and first among active players in three-point percentage.

In the 2021-22 season, Harris was averaging 11.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game before his injury. He was connecting on 46.6% of his three-point attempts.
