Nets star Kevin Durant ruled out Friday vs. Magic

The Brooklyn Nets recovered quickly from Tuesday night's blowout loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors with a double-digit win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. They'll look to make it back-to-back victories on Friday when they host the Orlando Magic, but the team will have to do it without arguably their best player.

Friday will be the first game that Durant misses this season, as he's averaged 28.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game across 16 contests. The Nets are currently second in the Eastern Conference at 11-5, while the Magic are at the bottom of the barrel at 4-11.

Following Friday's home game, the Nets will have a two-game road swing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday and the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

In addition to Durant, the Nets will be without Kyrie Irving -- who is ineligible to play due to New York City's COVID-19 vaccination mandate -- sharpshooter Joe Harris, who is out with a sprained ankle, forward Paul Millsap, who is out due to personal reasons, and center Nicolas Claxton, who is sitting with an illness.
