SEDONA — Users on X spent Monday dissecting a cryptic new McDonald’s teaser that many believe points to the collaboration with Devin Booker and his Book 2’s.

The video features Ronald McDonald sitting alone on a bench in a desert landscape, but instead of wearing his classic red clown shoes, the mascot dons turquoise-colored footwear — a detail many immediately connected to Arizona. The state is home to the only McDonald’s in the world with turquoise arches instead of the company’s traditional golden arches, located in Sedona.

The teaser’s grainy, analog aesthetic also sparked comparisons to Booker’s well-known love for vintage photography and video.

The unique collaboration was hardly a secret. Days earlier, the sneaker was leaked online, showcasing turquoise arches near the back of the shoe. While fans may have already gotten a glimpse of the sneaker, McDonald’s official teaser only intensified the hype beyond the Valley.

The campaign also represents another sign of Booker’s growing influence beyond basketball. In recent years, the Suns star has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s most marketable athletes, blending fashion and lifestyle branding with his on-court success.

A partnership with a global company like McDonald’s further elevates Booker’s profile nationally while reinforcing his ties to Arizona culture. Rather than relying on generic desert imagery, the teaser appears to lean into recognizable Arizona symbolism, something fans rarely see reflected in national advertising campaigns.

For a fan base always eager for Booker-related news during the offseason, the unexpected collaboration ties one of Arizona’s biggest sports stars to a distinct piece of the state’s culture.
