There might be trouble brewing with the Arizona Cardinals. New head coach Mike LaFleur may not have the team's best pass rusher, as Josh Sweat might be trying to force his way out of the team.
According to Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix host John Gambadoro, Sweat didn't show up for the Cardinals' OTAs, and it wasn't injury-related.
"Yes Josh Sweat is not injured was just a no show. Something to keep an eye on," Gambadoro reported.
Considering that, this looks like a perfect opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to swoop right in and make a run at him.
For starters, there are obvious ties between Sweat and the Packers. He left the Philadelphia Eagles to reunite with Jonathan Gannon, the former Cardinals' head coach who's now the Packers' defensive coordinator.
Also, Matt LaFleur, Mike's brother, is the Packers' head coach, so there's clearly a direct line of communication there.
Moreover, the Packers could certainly use another headhunter for their defense.
Kingsley Enagbare and Rashan Gary are no longer on the team, and rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton might need some time before being ready to make an impact, given how patient the Packers are usually with their rookies.
That leaves Micah Parsons and Javon Hargrave as the only bona fide pass rushers in Lambeau Field.
Sweat would give them another option to start opposite Parsons, as Lukas Van Ness has left plenty to be desired since he entered the league as a first-round pick.
He's more than familiar with Gannon's defense, and this looks like an easy solution for all parties involved.
