New Myles Turner Prediction Drops Before Pacers Free Agency

The Indiana Pacers are coming off a brutal loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals. But to add insult to injury, Indiana also lost star guard Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles tear as well.

Haliburton is now expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season due to the injury. With this news, it remains to be seen how the Pacers will go about the upcoming offseason.

Prior to the injury, it had been rumored that Indiana was willing to enter into the luxury tax to keep the core group together. Star center Myles Turner will be a free agent this summer, and he is expected to return to the team.

But whenever a player hits free agency, anything can happen. Money often talks in situations like this, and Turner could also depart from the Pacers.

NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report predicted some of the free agency moves ahead of everything starting. One of those was about Turner, and Buckley had Turner standing in Indiana.

"If re-signing Turner remains the aim, then it'll be interesting to see if Indiana considers cutting costs elsewhere. What's less interesting for big-man shoppers, though, is that it doesn't seem like Haliburton's injury will push Turner out of the only NBA home he's ever known. Prediction: Turner re-signs with the Pacers for five years and $155 million," Buckley wrote.

Turner has been a key piece to what the Pacers do for years, and even though he had a poor NBA Finals, he should still return. Indiana should be doing whatever it can to keep him in town, especially considering they don't have any other options in the frontcourt.

With Turner likely back in the mix, Indiana can still contend next season. The Pacers may not be title threats without Haliburton, but they may be able to push for a playoff spot.
