The New Orleans Pelicans recently signed Herbert Jones to a three-year, $68 million contract extension, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Jones is under contract through the 2028-29 season, with a player option for 2029-30.
After hearing the news, Jordan Poole took to social media to share his thoughts about it, and he couldn’t be any happier for his New Orleans Pelicans teammate.
“
The New Orleans Pelicans have had a fairly busy offseason so far. Before extending Jones’ contract, the team traded for Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey and added Kevon Looney via free agency, losing Bruce Brown, CJ McCollum, and Kelly Olynyk in the process.
Meanwhile, in the Summer League, New Orleans Pelicans rookie Derik Queen did well in his Summer League debut. The 13th overall pick had 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists on 5-for-9 shooting from the field in the 98-91 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins liked what he saw from Queen, and the former NBA center believes he’ll only get better from here.
“Just wait until he gets that NBA strength and conditioning!!! He’s going to be a Serious PROBLEM,” Perkins said about Queen on X (formerly known as Twitter).
