The New York Knicks will move on to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 after defeating the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, in 6 games. Will they be able to make it to the NBA Finals?
New York’s stars, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jalen Brunson all finished with over 20 points. This has only happened five other times in NBA history, and it couldn’t have come at a more crucial time for them.
Brunson put up 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting with 6 rebounds and 6 assists, tying Anunoby for the team high in points. Brunson started slow, but ended up finding his rhythm in the second and third quarters.
Anunoby had 23 points on 7-of-19 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. This is his second recorded double-double of the year. Josh Hart finished this series putting up a triple-double (his 10th of the year), with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. He broke the New York Knicks franchise record for most triple-doubles in one season. Jaylen Brown led the way for the Boston Celtics with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Brown fouled out late in the third quarter.
New York will face the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals beginning Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. These teams faced off in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last year. Indiana prevailed in 7 games. New York will look to flip the script this time around.
