Game 5 between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics became too physical. During the first quarter, Knicks forward Josh Hart drove to the basket, where Celtics big man Luke Kornet was standing. Unfortunately for Hart, he was elbowed in the left eye by Kornet, causing him to bleed. He did not leave the game, though, and continued to play.

Despite the setback in the first period, the 6-foot-5 forward did everything he could against the Celtics. Hart led the team with 24 points as they suffered a 127-106 loss against the defending champions. All-Star guard Jalen Brunson had 22 points and six assists on 41.2 percent shooting.

However, they couldn’t close the series and will return to New York to try and eliminate Boston and advance to the conference finals.

After the game, everyone was curious to know about Hart’s eye injury. The former Villanova forward was optimistic about his eye and had a two-word reaction about it.

“It’s peachy,” Hart said about his eye while smiling.

The $80 million worth player revealed to the media that he had “a couple” of stitches for his injury.

Game 6 will be on Madison Square Garden, and an inspired Celtics team wants to force a Game 7 on Friday. However, the Knicks will play in familiar territory to try and end the series.

The New York Knicks forward knew the Celtics would retaliate after losing their best player

In Game 4, the Celtics lost Jayson Tatum after he suffered a non-contact injury. He was later diagnosed to have a torn right Achilles tendon, ruling him out for the rest of the postseason. Entering Game 5, the New York Knicks have the upper hand with a 3-1 lead in the series and many expected them to end it on Wednesday.

However, the Celtics proved why they’re the defending champions and spoiled the Knicks’ plans. After the loss, Hart told the media that they knew Boston would come back up after losing the 2024 Western Conference finals MVP.

“They’re the defending champs. Jayson Tatum went down, you thought they were just going to lay down? Nah. You knew they were going to come out swinging,” Hart said. “They came out with extreme confidence, like they do every game, they came out with aggression.”

The Celtics’ performance in Game 5 was a complete turnaround from their previous outings. But New York still has the upper hand and will take advantage of their incomplete roster on Friday.
