The New York Knicks might have a logjam at the guard spot, but Miles McBride isn’t going to get traded any time soon.
The New York Knicks look primed and ready to compete for the NBA championship next season. After a transformative summer, the men in blue and orange are raring to go.
Their preseason opener in Abu Dhabi was a positive experience, despite Josh Hart leaving the game injured and fouled out.
Mitchell Robinson blew Knicks fans away with his strong outing. The changes Mike Brown has brought to the Knicks are starting to show.
But with their new roster being quite heavy at the guard spot, the Knicks have considered trading some stars. Fortunately for Miles McBride, he isn’t on the trade block just yet.
Ian Begley put out a report following the New York Knicks’ preseason win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Abu Dhabi.
When it comes to the future of Miles McBride, Begley noted that the Knicks have no intention of trading McBride and want him to be a cornerstone of this roster.
“The Knicks really value McBride, and key stakeholders believe that they need the fifth-year guard on the roster in order to reach their goals.
“Opposing teams are actually hoping that the Knicks make McBride available. The 25-year-old is in the second year of a three-year, $13 million extension.
“He’s valued highly by multiple teams around the league. His production, age, and contract situation are all attractive.
“The Knicks also value him highly and have not been entertaining offers to trade at this point, per people familiar with the matter.”

The New York Knicks were quite active this summer, signing Jordan Clarkson, Guerschon Yabusele, and Malcolm Brogdon in free agency.
Brogdon and Clarkson join Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, and Tyler Kolek in making up their guard depth. Instead of McBride, Tyler Kolek could be traded this season.
The Knicks’ current payroll is expected to exceed $200 million next season, making them one of the most expensive sides in the NBA.
Notoriously frugal Knicks owner James Dolan will expect a championship as the return on his investment in the side.
