Neymar shared a close bond with Kobe Bryant, with the Brazilian often speaking about his admiration for the former Los Angeles Lakers star.
Following Bryant’s tragic passing in 2020, Neymar paid tribute in multiple ways, including social media posts and gestures on the pitch during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
That connection remains strong years later, with Neymar continuing to honour the NBA legend in a personal way.
In a video published on his YouTube channel last Monday, Neymar revealed that he keeps a special item dedicated to Kobe in his trophy room.
The Brazilian showed a PSG shirt with Bryant’s name and number, explaining it was the one he wore to pay tribute after the NBA icon’s passing.
“This is Kobe Bryant’s jersey. On the day he passed away, I wore this jersey because I’m a huge fan of his. I even have a tattoo of him. He’s an inspiration to me, so it was a moment to honour him,” the Santos No.10 said.
The revelation endorses how deeply Bryant influenced Neymar, with the item holding significant emotional value beyond his football achievements.
Neymar has openly discussed how Bryant’s passing affected him in an interview with Vogue in 2020, a few months after the accident involving the NBA superstar.
“His death affected me deeply because our lives had so much in common,” he stated at the time.
“I met Kobe personally when he came to Paris… When you get to know the person behind the athlete, you create a different kind of relationship, and with Kobe, it was very special.”
