Jokic's 65 first-place votes are the fewest for an MVP since Steve Nash won the award in 2006.
Jokic becomes the 15th NBA player to win back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards. He joins Antetokounmpo (2019-2020), Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry (2009-2010, 2012-2013), and Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James (2015-2016) as active players to accomplish the feat.
The now two-time MVP ranked first on the Nuggets in points (27.1), rebounds (13.8), assists (7.9), steals (1.5), blocks (0.9) and field goal percentage (58%).
The 27-year-old became the first player in NBA history to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a season, and the first player to average at least 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in a season.
The Nuggets were 2-6 without Jokic in the lineup this season. Denver finished the season 48-34, earning the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Denver was eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, 4-1, by the Golden State Warriors.
