Vasilije Micic praises Nikola Jokic as a player and as a person

Former NBA star Vasilije Micic spoke to BasketNews about Serbian captain and teammate Nikola Jokic recently.

He praised Jokic, not just for his immense talent, but for the content of his character. Micic added that Jokic is the example that all aspiring NBA stars should follow.

“Great guy, great guy. Very humble, really unique in terms of that. His integrity with the team and his behavior in general are really a great example for everyone who wants to become like Nikola, a superstar and NBA leader.

“So seeing him as a leader in that way, it’s really even more motivating for everyone to hustle and play for the team.

“He never complained. He really never complains about anything. He never dresses differently. He’s always on time.

“He always dresses perfectly as we agreed on. It’s like a small detail, but really never, never missed since I know him.

“And then, like his contribution with small things. He likes to play cards with us. He likes to play fantasy soccer stuff.

“I don’t even know what they play because I don’t know any video games. But he’s always into those things with the team, and he just does it naturally.”

This summer with the Serbian national team could be a great warm-up for what lies ahead for the superstar next season.

Jokic and Serbia are considered favorites to win the EuroBasket tournament, given the strength of their roster compared to the rest of the field.

Should Jokic lead Serbia to the European Championship, it would set him up quite nicely to do the same when he returns to the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets have put together a brilliant roster this season and are expected to be in the mix to compete for an NBA championship.
