The Denver Nuggets had an ample opportunity to take control of their NBA Playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
They held a lead for much of the game thanks to a monster outing from Nikola Jokic.
Following Game 1, Jokic hadn't looked like his MVP-candidate self.
But in Game 5, the best of Jokic was on display.
Jokic scored 44 points and secured 15 rebounds, attempting to will his team to a 3-2 victory, but a late surge by the Thunder proved too much for the Nuggets to hold off.
While Jokic looked better, Michael Porter Jr.'s shoulder injury continues to hamper the sharpshooter. He's now shot 1-for-7 from the field and 0-5 from three in each of the last two games.
Considering the Nuggets' losses in those games were by just seven and five points, respectively, Porter Jr.'s shooting woes directly correlate to their losses.
According to Vic Lombardi, he doesn't believe this is the end of the Nuggets' season.
"Win Game 6 -- and I believe the Nuggets will -- they get TWO days before Game 7," Lombardi said. "Two. Whole. Days. The Nuggets haven't had two days rest since April. Empty the tank tomorrow night and you have an extra day between games to fuel it back up."

Two. Whole. Days.
The @nuggets haven't had two days rest since April. Empty the tank tomorrow night and you have an extra day between games to fuel it back up.
One thing is for certain. You can't fake desperation. That's exactly what the Nuggets are ahead of Game 6.
If the Thunder play like a team with a one-game lead, the Nuggets could capitalize and force a Game 7. A team like the Nuggets could perhaps use the two days of rest more than the Thunder, who are the youngest in the NBA.
