Nuggets 'Checked In' On Potential Trade for Olympic Teammate of Nikola Jokic
© Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets have had their name come up a lot in the NBA rumor mill of late. That should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Nikola Jokic is in prime position for the fourth MVP of his career, and yet the Nuggets have only managed a measly 15-11 record during the 2024-25 NBA season. The team is certainly not awful, but they are far from looking like a true contender in a stacked Western Conference.

One could argue that the Nuggets front office has gotten too complacent post-championship when it comes to surrounding their Serbian superstar with a competent roster that is fit to compete with the best of the league. However, to their credit, their recent surge in the rumor mill suggests a rejuvenated desire to not rest on their laurels.

This latest update has indicated that Denver holds some interest in reuniting Jokic with a player he spent a lot of time with during the summer. The Nuggets have reportedly checked in with the Atlanta Hawks about acquiring Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Jokic and Bogdanovic were teammates for Serbia during their run of winning the bronze medal for men's basketball at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Hawks wing looked strong playing beside Jokic. Bogdanovic averaged 18.3 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. As a result, he was named to the All-Second Team of Paris 2024.

The Hawks offer the Nuggets a good opportunity to potentially flip rumored trade chip Michael Porter Jr. for multiple players. While no individual player that the Nuggets could theoretically get in return for Porter would be as good as him, it could offer Denver an opportunity to balance their rotations with multiple contributors.
