Nuggets’ Christian Braun: ‘Excited to learn from DeMar DeRozan’

Christian Braun sounds pretty happy with the Nuggets’ latest addition.

Denver signed six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan to a one-year minimum contract this offseason, adding another proven scorer to a roster that underwent some significant changes.

“Really excited to play with another All-Star and learn from him,” Braun told Sean Keeler of the Denver Post. “I’m always very confident in what our front office does and the team they’ll put together every single year.”

DeRozan, 37, is entering his 18th NBA season after averaging more than 18 points and shooting nearly 50 percent from the field for Sacramento last year.

The Nuggets could use him. Denver lost several rotation players this offseason, including Peyton Watson, who was sent to the Cavaliers in a sign-and-trade. Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jonas Valanciunas are gone, too.

DeRozan gives the Nuggets another player capable of creating his own shot alongside Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Perhaps more importantly for Braun, it could allow him to spend less time trying to manufacture offense himself.

Braun is entering the first season of the five-year, $125 million extension he signed last year.

Now he’ll be playing alongside another former All-Star. Apparently, he’s just fine with that arrangement.
