It was an interesting start to free agency on Monday for the Denver Nuggets as they pulled off a blockbuster trade.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Nuggets agreed to a trade that sent Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson.

This is a massive move by the Nuggets as they free up cap space by moving on from Porter Jr. while also adding a three-point sharpshooter to their starting lineup in Johnson.
By making this move, it appears that the Nuggets are desperately trying to retool their roster around Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon and they have now freed up cap space to make more moves in free agency.
Of course, Denver also signed Bruce Brown to a one-year deal as they reunite with a key part of their championship team and they have also emerged as a potential landing spot for a champion from the Boston Celtics.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Nuggets are among several contending teams, including the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, that have shown interest in signing Al Horford in free agency.

With the Nuggets desperately needing to add a backup center behind Jokic, signing Horford would be a solid move for them to make.
Last season, the 39-year-old big man averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range.
Horford would give the Nuggets a solid defender and scorer off the bench and he would also help the second unit space the floor due to his three-point shooting.
His signing would also take the load off Jokic, which would be a massive help later in the season with him being able to receive more rest with Denver having a solid backup center behind him.
Despite this, there are many contending teams that are in the mix to sign Horford but expect the Nuggets to make a push to add him to their roster.
