The Denver Nuggets are coming off another disappointing second-round playoff exit last season after losing to the eventual champion Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games.
Of course, this was the second consecutive season that the Nuggets were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs and they felt that it was time to make some major changes to their roster this summer.
Denver began their offseason by shockingly trading Michael Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson in a move that lands them a three-point sharpshooter and also free up cap space for them to make more moves.
With the extra cap space, the Nuggets signed Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown in free agency and also acquired Jonas Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings to upgrade their bench.
Now with a new-look rotation still led by Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, many expect the Nuggets to be a serious contender next season.
On Tuesday, the Nuggets made another addition to their roster as they signed former Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings forward Kessler Edwards, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
The Denver Nuggets and forward Kessler Edwards have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Edwards averaged 4.2 points on 49.6% shooting from the field and 40.7% from 3-point range in 40 games, including 18 starts, for the Dallas Mavericks last season. pic.twitter.com/4OTaLBY01n

Scotto’s report did not mention the full contract details but Edwards is expected to fill the Nuggets’ final roster spot.
Edwards is coming off a solid season with the Mavericks where he averaged 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 40.7% from three over 40 games.
The 25-year-old big man can play both forward positions and will give the Nuggets a much-needed boost in their frontcourt.
Edwards is a solid scorer and three-point shooter that will give Denver yet another offensive weapon off the bench, though his role next season with the Nuggets may be a small one due to their abundance of forwards.
Of course, the Nuggets have Peyton Watson, Zeke Nnaji, Hunter Tyson and Julian Strawther all fighting for minutes off the bench next season but after his performances last season in Dallas, Edwards should see solid minutes off the bench next season.
