Nuggets' Star Trio Ranked Among Best Big 3s in NBA by Analyst

The Denver Nuggets are coming off another disappointing second-round playoff exit which led them to make some major moves this offseason.

Of course, the Nuggets are led by their star trio of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, who helped the franchise capture a championship in 2023.

Despite this, the Nuggets have had major issues with their depth over the past few seasons and because of this, they elected to trade Michael Porter Jr. this offseason to free up cap space.

In the trade, the Nuggets sent Porter Jr. to the Nets for Cameron Johnson, freeing up enough cap space for them to sign Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. and make a trade with the Sacramento Kings for Jonas Valanciunas.

With their new-look roster, the Nuggets are now expected to be the biggest challengers to the Oklahoma City Thunder next season with their star trio leading the way.

Bleacher Report ranks Nuggets' star trio as second-best in NBA

Denver’s star trio was also recently named the second-best big three in the NBA, only behind the Thunder’s, by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz.

“Only one member of the Denver Nuggets' Big 3 has ever been named to an All-Star team, which speaks more to the greatness of Nikola Jokić than anything. With a sparkling net rating and a championship together, however, the Nuggets still have one of the best trios in the entire NBA,” Swartz wrote. “This Big 3 is battle-tested, possesses the best player in the world and has blended perfectly well together, even if two members don't have the individual accolades of some other players on this list.”

Swartz makes a great point about the Nuggets’ star trio not having the individual accolades as some others in the NBA, though Jokic is arguably the greatest basketball player in the world currently.

Despite this, both Murray and Gordon have came up huge over the past few seasons for the Nuggets, especially during their championship run in 2023.

Denver’s big three has championship experience and they also fit perfectly alongside each other, which was a major reason why Swartz ranked them as the second-best big three in the NBA behind the Thunder’s.

Now the Nuggets hope that their star trio can help lead them to another championship next season with an upgraded bench.
