Aaron Gordon was out of action for the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday as they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 125-118. The 6-foot-8 forward sat out due to a hamstring injury, which has also placed a question mark over his availability for Denver’s next game.

The Nuggets, who improved to 11-3 after taking down the Pelicans, will be back in action on Friday. They face a red-hot Houston Rockets side, who have won five in a row. Kevin Durant and Co. are currently 10-3 and are just half a game behind the Nuggets for the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference.

Is Aaron Gordon Playing Tonight?

Gordon has had an excellent start to the new NBA season. In 12 games played thus far, the 30-year-old has produced averages of 20.3 points on 53.6% shooting, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, while also knocking down 2.3 triples per contest on a highly efficient 45.2% clip.

Gordon, though, was forced to miss his second game of the season on Wednesday due to a hamstring issue. His official diagnosis was bilateral hamstring injury management, which indicates that Wednesday’s absence was more for rest purposes as opposed to a new injury.

GORDON STATUS

Apart from deciding the No. 2 seed in the West, Friday’s matchup against the Rockets is also an NBA Cup showdown for the Nuggets and the Rockets. Both teams are part of West Group C, and they both have a 1-1 record in the in-season tournament.

Gordon is currently in his sixth season with the Nuggets. In 2024, he signed a four-year, $133 million extension that will keep him in Denver through 2029. The former fourth-overall pick has a player option on the last year of his contract.
