The Boston Celtics built a 20-point lead over the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, although the Knicks, thanks to Mikal Birdges and OG Anunoby, were able to crawl back and force a thrilling overtime, taking the first game of the series and winning their first game of the year against Boston.

The Celtics entered the season as title favorites and have remained favorites all season. The Knicks, meanwhile, were legitimately in danger of being upset by the upstart Detroit Pistons in the first round, although they certainly found their bearings down the stretch.

In Game 1, Jayson Tatum offered a bad (for him) 23 points on disappointing (for anyone) 30.4 percent shooting from the floor. Often guarded by Anunoby, the Knicks' best defender broke down how he made life tough for Tatum.

"He's a great player," said Anunoby. "And he's going to make some tough ones. Just try to make him as uncomfortable as possible. And yeah, see if he makes the shot. Just make it as difficult as possible."

When guarded by OG, Tatum shot only one-of-six from the floor, scoring only three points. He was forced into two turnovers, as well.

While shutting down Tatum all series is a near impossibility, the fact that the Knicks had a prepared answer for one of the best players in the NBA, jokingly nicknamed "The Anomaly" for his all-around play, should bode well for them as they prepare to play Boston again in Game 2 on Wednesday.
